For Chase's birthday, I wanted to throw a picture in here of when he was born. It's hard to believe that his second birthday is already here.

Chase is two! I can harldy believe that this much time has passed already. He is growing and changing so quickly. He truly is a sweetheart, and a joy to have in our family. We love you Chase!

Aunt Kristen gave him a farmyard set. He literally sat and played with it for two hours. Loved it!

Josh and Chandice sent Chase a puzzle that he absolutely loves. Grammy was helping him is first time around :)

All Grown Up!

Hailey turned four this month, and also started preschool. She has been one busy little girl. She had such a fun birthday. Grandma Farmer, Tiffany, and Emily came from Idaho to celebrate with us. Hailey's friend Abi went bowling with us (first time for both of them). We all had so much fun! Later Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Craig, Lisa, Jody, and Shayla joined us for dinner at Hailey's favorite restaurant, Texas Road House. She got lots of fun presents and had a super good day.

She started preschool a couple of weeks ago and loves it! She is so excited to go, and loves to interact with the other kids. She has some pretty funny things to say about the other kids too. Like, "The other Hailey wouldn't sit by me, but she did play with the puzzle with me." "There's a boy in my class who is mean because he always has a mean face like this (and then she demonstrates)." As long as he's not mean to her, I don't have a problem with his mean face :)

We Heart Idaho!

We love our family tradition of spending the 4th of July in Idaho. The kids have so much room to run and play, as well as 4-wheelers to ride, animals to play with, and family to visit. It's always hard for us to come back home! Hailey and Chase have their first cousin on the Farmer side, Lucas. He was blessed while we were there. Hailey loves him!

5th Anniversary

Ashley and I decided to take a mini vacation for our fifth anniversary. First we had to go to Grand Junction to do a floor. Yes, I had to help him do the floor. I probably wasn't the best help he's ever had, but we got 'er done! The next day we loaded up the dirt bike and four wheeler and headed up a trail just before Moab. It was super hot, but a beautiful ride. We then headed into Moab and checked into our bed & breakfast, which was so cute and quaint. After cooling off in the pool, we went to dinner at Buck's, which was super good. Then we strolled down Moab's main street, hitting the shops and getting ice cream along the way. The next morning we headed into Arches and did a short hike. What a wonderful trip to take together, and such a fun way to spend our fifth anniversary!

Our friend Heather made these cute cakes for the birthday boy. The little hat was just for him! She did such a good job, and best of all the cake was so yummy!

My friend Dean and his family were in Salt Lake this past weekend, so we went to the home show with them. This is their son Payne, who is just two weeks younger than Hailey. They got along very well, as you can see :)

Grandpa Keith, Grandma Debbie, Emily, and Tristin were here for a day. We all went to lunch and had fun catching up!

Painting is so much fun!

I am horrible at keeping up with my blog! I'm trying to do better, so here goes. Life is busy as usual at the Farmer household. Ashley has been keeping busy with floors and real estate. He has been going out of town a lot this winter, so it has been hard not having him around, but we are blessed to have work in this economy!

I have been keeping busy with the kids and with my job. I love working at a b&b. It gives me some alone time, and a little extra cash :)

Hailey is a little smarty pants. She has so much personality, and is so bright. She loves to sing and dance and read books. She is very strong willed and stubborn (maybe she's a bit like her mom). You can't pressure her into doing anything. For example, she refuses to use the potty. She's done it in the past, but decided she didn't like it, and it's just easier to go in her diaper. We have literally tried EVERYTHING. So, I'm going to quit bugging her and let her do it when she's ready. Do I have any other choice? I'm sure we'll laugh about this when she gets older, but right now I feel like I'm going to be the only mom sending her kid to kindergarten in diapers!

Chase is our little joy. He has been such a good baby since day one. He brings so much light into our home and to our family. He loves to watch his sister do anything, especially sing and dance. The two of them love each other and have so much fun together. Chase will be one next month, and I can't believe how fast time flies. 2009 went by so fast!

We have been doing some painting in our living room downstairs, so I will be posting more pictures as the process progresses. For now, we're all happy, healthy, and loving life!

Camping!!

Here are some pics from our latest adventure. We went camping with some friends from our ward. We went out near Duchesne, and it was beautiful. This was Chase's first time camping, and Hailey's second. We had a lot of fun, even though it stormed really hard the whole night. The thunder was so loud, as well as the rain beating down on the tent, but both kids slept through the night as if they were in their own beds. We did have to put Hailey's pink hat on Chase to keep his ears warm, but he didn't seem to mind :) It's a good thing he's not older, or he may have protested! I'm sure Hailey will blackmail him one day with those pictures.

THE FLAG

The scorching summer day came to an end at the prison camp as the ragged prisoners gathered together for a few moments of companionship. They made a somber procession as they tottered closer together, walking skeletons shrunken inside their rags, some barely able to walk. The gaunt faces stared, showing no emotion except weariness.

Suddenly, holding a rolled-up blanket, two prisoners stood. They squinted into the distance to be sure that they were not seen by their captors. Each man held the corner of a blanket high over his head and they let the blanket unroll. Attached to the inside of the blanket was the cherished flag of their country!

One of the men had smuggled the flag in. At the time of his capture he had taken the flag and hidden it by wrapping it around his chest, under his shirt. Covered by his uniform, his captors had not discovered it. By moving it from place to place, with the help of other prisoners, he kept it safe and hidden until he arrived at the camp.

When they saw the flag, a ripple of amazement ran through the group. Forgetting the misery of their crowded conditions, the scanty meals and the lack of medical help, the men started to smile. Their thoughts again turned to home. They remembered the beauty of their homeland and their loving families. Each was left with his own private memories.

Silence yawned. Their hearts were too full to allow words to be spoken. Some men's eyes were moist, others were crying openly, as they gazed at the beautiful flag. Softly, but with an increasing depth of feeling, they sang the national anthem.

I have had this little story for a long time now, and I read it often. At this time of year when we celebrate Memorial Day and Independence Day, it's fitting to think about all those who serve and who have served our country. There are so many brave men and women out there to whom we owe ourl ives and our freedom. Sometimes we forget how lucky and blessed we are to live in a free country, with so many opportunities. This little story reminds me to always be grateful for my freedom.

4th Anniversary

It's been four years since we were married and it feels like it was just yesterday. So much has happened in the past few years, including having two wonderful kids. We are so blessed and feel so lucky to have found each other. I hope we will be this happy on our 50th wedding anniversary!

Kids Say the Darndest Things...

Hailey's vocabulary has grown by leaps and bounds the past few months. I swear she talks as if she is a five-year-old. She can recite her "ABC's" and repeats everything she hears (which isn't always good, as many of you with young children know). I'd like to share with you a couple of things she has said lately.

The other day we were at my parents' house and Hailey was sitting up on a high stool in the kitchen while my dad was sitting at the computer. She repeatedly asked Grandpa to please help her get down from the stool. When he didn't respond, she said, "A little help here Big Guy!" I've never heard my dad laugh so hard in my life. He asked me where she had learned to say that and I have no idea. I'd never heard her say it before!

Today we were walking to the playground and Hailey looked up in the sky and said, "Look Mommy, an airplane!" I asked her if she'd like to take a ride in an airplane and she said, "Well, Grandpa says I'm a Scaredy Cat." And she continued walking. I think my dad said that to her about two months ago and she remembered!

And one more: This morning Hailey and I were sitting on the bed and Ashley was getting dressed in the bathroom to get ready for work. Well he came out of the bathroom and Hailey said, "Oh Daddy, you look beautiful!" I think it totally made his day :)

We welcomed our little man into the world on Saturday March 14 at 7:59 p.m. We named him Chase, but are still debating on a middle name. We are trying to decide between Dylan and Timothy. Any suggestions are welcome! He weighed a whopping 9 lbs. 5 oz and was 22 inches long. Labor and delivery went really smoothly. I have an awesome doctor, and the nurses were great. Hailey is being a great little helper and we're hoping the adjustment period goes well. We had to take a picture of Chase in his little green outfit for St. Patrick's Day. Thanks everyone for all the phone calls and visits!

Baby Isn't Ready!

Well this baby boy is not ready to make his debut yet, so my doctor has decided to wait until next Saturday (the 14th) to induce. I'm fine with the decision because I don't want to make labor any harder than it has to be, so until then!

Baby Update

So...I had an appointment Friday and asked my doctor if we were going to induce this time like we did with Hailey. She said, "Sure, how does Friday the 6th sound?" Well, my wonderful husband, who is such a hard worker, said that weekend would not be good for him because he would be working all weekend. So, we decided to go with Monday the 9th. So there we go! I am being induced that day, and we'll see how everything turns out. I'm hoping it goes as smoothly as it did with Hailey :)

35 weeks down, 5 to go. This pregnancy went slowly in the beginning because I was so sick, but the past few months have flown by, and I can't believe it's almost here! My belly is getting huge and I hope the baby isn't too much bigger than Hailey was (8 lbs. 15 oz.). Speaking of Hailey, I think she is understanding better that there will soon be an addition to our family. She likes to tap on my belly and say, "Wake up baby brodder!"

My brother Jody and his wife Lisa had their first baby today. She is a beautiful baby girl, weighing in at 8 lbs. 15 oz. (exactly the same as Hailey weighed). No pictures yet, but she is adorable and mother and baby are doing well!

So I need some input from you all. I'm thinking about getting a Diaper Genie, but I have never owned one and I am wondering if it's worth the investment. I have a little diaper pail, but it doesn't have a deodorizer, so it can get pretty stinky. I am constantly spraying Lysol in and around it. So I am wondering if any of you have a Diaper Genie and if it is expensive to buy the refills or if it's worth it. Any input I can get would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

We had a really fun Halloween this year. There is a Trunk-or-Treat every year at our church, and tons of people come. We have soup and scones, then the kids go around and get candy from all the decorated trunks. Hailey was a Steeler's cheerleader, I was a witch, and Ashley was a vampire.

Ok, so I'm only two weeks late on posting Hailey's birthday pictures, but better late than never, right? We went to the zoo for her birthday, then had cake and ice cream at our house. Very low-key, but a lot of fun. I can't believe she's two!

The Wonderful World of Potty Training

So we bought Hailey a little potty about six months ago just to see what she would do. She actually liked to sit on it, but didn't understand the "going" part. After a month or so, she went a couple times (I think on accident), which was great, but we still didn't push her. Well last week she told me she wanted to go potty, so she sat on the potty and went! Then she wipes and washes her hands. She did this two days in a row and I was so proud! Then yesterday I put her on the potty and she went #2! I was so ecstatic! She looked embarassed like she had done something wrong, but I clapped for her and told her what a good job she did and what a big girl she was. Then we went to the store and bought her a doll. She was so excited to have it. Believe it or not, this was her first doll. We've just never bought one for her before. She's kind of a little tomboy. Anyway, our goal is to have her potty trained before the new baby comes, so hopefully we can do it, but if not, it's not the end of the world. I'm not going to push her, because all the times she has gone it's been because she wanted to. Anyway, our little girl sure is growing up fast!

I haven't posted anything for a while. With morning sickness and a lot of fatigue, I haven't had the energy or desire to take any pictures. Yesterday I couldn't even keep water down, and lost count of the number of times I threw up. Hopefully today will be a better day, and hopefully this "stuff" will go away soon. I just want to feel normal again!

4th of July Weekend

We went up to Idaho to visit Ashley's family for the 4th. His parents have an amazingly beautiful back yard with a pond full of koi fish, waterfalls, and gardens. Hailey spent all her time outside, feeding the fish and throwing rocks into the pond. We completed our trip with the fireworks show in Idaho Falls. They have the best fireworks show I have ever seen!

Discovery Gateway

Hailey and I went to Discovery Gateway, the children's museum at the Gateway the other day. It is a little kid's paradise. Everything is kid size and there is so much to do. Hailey was just running from one thing to another. So if you're looking for something to do with your kids and it's too hot to play outside, this is the perfect place! The second picture is a tube similar to the ones they have at the bank drive throughs. You open the tube and wind blows in your face. Then you put a ball in the tube, shut the door, and it sucks the ball up the tube like a vacuum. I love her face in that picture!

Cousin Camping

Mindy planned a really fun camping trip this past weekend. We had a ton of fun on the four wheelers, roasting marshmallows, and just hanging out. Mindy, Jason, Shana, Scott, Ashley, and I all camped over Saturday night. Preston, Amber, and Lilee came up for dinner and hung out for a while. It was a perfect weekend. The weather was beautiful, the company was awesome, and we didn't get eaten by bears! Thanks Mindy for inviting us!

Third Anniversary

We celebrated our third anniversary yesterday. Ashley gave me some beautiful white roses. Then all three of us went golfing. Even though it was super hot, we had a lot of fun. Hailey was so good the whole time and loved walking around on the green, chasing the golf balls when we were trying to put. Later we went to dinner and then a movie. It was such a great day!

Water Babies

Zoo Adventures

Yesterday was our first trip to the zoo this year. We got a membership so we will hopefully be going a lot! Grandma and Grandpa came with us, and besides it being a little chilly, we had a lot of fun. The picture quality is not great because they are taken with my cell phone, but we did the best we could!

Best Husband EVER!

Today I went to lunch with my friend Kate and when I got home Ashley had cleaned the ENTIRE house, as well as the ENTIRE garage. How many husbands would do that? I just want him to know how much I love him and appreciate him, although I don't always tell him. He does so much for Hailey and me and I don't thank him enough. He is absolutely the best husband anyone could ever ask for. So here's to the best husband in the whole world! I love you Babe!

Lake Powell

We just returned from Lake Powell yesterday and we had a blast! It was Hailey's first time camping, and she did awesome. She loved playing in the sand and splashing in the water. And Grandpa helped her catch her first fish! We had tons of fun on the boat and on the wave runners. We're so glad we went!

Hailey was taking a bath tonight and actually climbed in this bucket herself. She thought it was fun until she got stuck and I had to help her out. She held out her arms and said, "All done Mama, all done!" Afterwards though, she put all her bath toys into her bucket, which made me very proud :)

Phoenix

Hailey and I took a last-minute trip with my parents to Phoenix last week. It was so fun to see Josh and Chandice and to get out of the cold Utah weather! We were there for my birthday and we went to the zoo, I went to the spa, and later we went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was such a good trip!

A few weeks ago Hailey had an allergic reaction to her meds. She broke out in a rash all over her body, she had an extremely high fever, and she was scratching like crazy. It got so bad we had to take her to the ER. Usually she is such a mama's girl, but that day in the ER she just wanted her daddy to hold her.

Update: Many of you have asked how Hailey is doing since this incident. She is a tough little girl and recovered much faster than the doctors said she would.

Easter Fun!

Hailey had such a good Easter. Our neighbors set up an Easter egg hunt outside for her and she knew exactly what to do! She kept saying "More! More!" after she would pick up each egg and put it in her basket. The inside picture is from the Easter egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
